This is a review on the positives and negatives of selling with the online platform called Vinted. Vinted is a selling platform that is more focused on the sale of second-hand fashion. It does allow the sale of some homeware/ electronics and some pet accessories. It does not however permit the sales for items such as fridges or cars etc. It must be deliverable via one of the couriers listed on the website as the buyer pays for the postage and delivery company.
Negatives
Vinted stating wrong information in postage guidance for Evri
At the time of writing, one of the guides for sending post with Evri written by Vinted states you can print your postage label in-store. This is incorrect as the shipping label provided to you is only for printing yourself as no print in store code is given to you. Many sellers have found out the hard way and have informed Vinted of this error but Vinted have not replied with a fix. So, if you need concrete reliable guidance, go to the delivery service website itself or Google for help in forums etc.
Need help?
If you need help from Vinted it is a takes a few days. If you read forums many people do not get great customer service from Vinted. So, you have to hope nothing goes wrong in your sale else you are on your own for a while.
Where is my money?
You do not get paid until the user accepts the item is ok or until a certain amount of time has passed after the delivery is confirmed. If your delivery has not be confirmed, then you have to contact Vinted with a screenshot of a confirmation message from the buyer.
Royal mail may give you prices fit for a Royal prince
The price the buyer pays for your royal mail postage is likely to be different. It could be cheaper, or more expensive but royal mail has many different prices according to weight and size compared to other delivery options. For example, if the buyer pays for Evri or InPost delivery, then the postage fee is already paid for. With Royal mail they pay an estimate fee then you must purchase the exact postage cost later.
Positives
That was quick!
Sign up and sell within minutes. It does not take a lot to start selling with Vinted. Just take a couple of nice photos and be as transparent as possible with what scruffs or damage your item has.
The postage power is in the buyer’s hand
The buyer chooses out of a select of delivery choices what they want and also pay for it. The seller gets the item price + postage after the sale has been confirmed as complete.
Money money money lots of money. Get paid!
Once your delivery is confirmed as delivered then the buyer can state in the app that everything is ok and release the funds to you or if they do not do this then the money will be released to you in a few days automatically.
